Thank You For Making My Son's Day

This message came to me after visiting in Kingston with a group of children.

Mary Lynn,

I wanted to thank you again for for being so kind to let my son have a special

one on one with the monkey. Your generosity really made his day and mine. He

was so disappointed when I picked him up from school and had been left out of

getting come to the show. I was only hoping for him to quickly be able to view

them in their cages since the show was over & you were packing up. My heart

melted when you gave him the special one on one. He talked about it the whole

way home. Thank you so much again.

Hope the summer is going great for you and your families. Can you believe it it is just a short time until July 4th. Wow, the summer is going by so fast.

We have been enjoying visiting with so many groups this summer but I wanted to share this very special "Thank You" that came from Holly after we visited her daughter Lauren for her 8th birthday party.

Hi Mary Lynn.

I just wanted to thank you again for yesterday. Lauren LOVED you and the monkeys. I was so happy that this was a first for all of the kids. It was a special treat that you allowed Lauren and a few of us to spend some additional time with one of the monkeys. I know it was a once in a lifetime experience for most of us! My house probably wasn't ideal but you made it work! We all appreciate your love and care for these monkeys that otherwise may not be given a chance.

Summer Fun With the Children and the Monks

We are having so much fun this summer in East Tennessee sharing the monks of SunShine MonkeyShines. The libraries are especially fun for us because we get to see many of the same children year after year. It is always so exciting to see how many children and their parents have returned to see us again and to also see how big the children have grown from one year to the next.

Is is bad when you have lost count as to how many years you have been returning to one of your favorite county libraries? Sandy from Claybourne County Library has been the library that I have goine to every year for we think 19 years. We both have forgotten how long it has been! I just love to see her smiling face when I pull up to the library. Thanks Sandy for loving to have us every year and thanks families for your wonderful support of the summer reading program in your county.

Blast From The Past

Hi from SunShine MonkeyShines

Just had to write and tell you about what happened on Saturday night. My good friend Lisa and I were out having some fun together after our party on Saturday evening and we decided to go into Ross Department Store. We made our selections and Lisa paid for our purchases while I ran back to look one more time at a rack of dresses.

As I was walking back towards the checkout lane a young woman recognized me and said with enthusiasm, “ I know you do not remember me but you brought your monkeys to my birthday party when I was 5 years old. I am twenty years old now. I have remembered that birthday party forever.”

The smiling young woman reached down and brought up her phone and started using it and then turned the phone towards me. I stared at the photo of her at age five and my sweet monkey Polly (who is deceased) and myself. She had actually kept the photo close at hand and was sharing it with me now.

I can only say one thing during my 25th anniversary year that express my feelings after this priceless moment in time, “I will remember her excitement and what she did and said forever. She gifted me and I was so honored to know that without a doubt,
